Auditions for
Hello, Goodbyes
An original play written by Alexia Hollis
December 19th - 6-9pm
At the Janesville Performing Arts Center
408 S. Main St - Janesville, WI
Synopsis:
4 Men - 3 Women
This original play centers around an unstable relationship between two unstable people in a low income city at the tail end of the 2008 recession. Amber, a flawed yet relatable young woman, navigates a passionate yet volatile relationship and the concerns of the people struggling around her. No characters are the “good guy”. All characters are flawed- they are as human as human can be.
The characters all have unique battles they are fighting: PTSD, drug use, physical and mental abuse, financial ruin. In the end, see how things unravel. No neat and tidy bows- as those don't often exist in real life.
Characters:
Amber:
(20-30) - A frustrating woman who often seems relatable, stupid, and smart all at the same time. This character is strong, but carries a lot of guilt.
We follow her story throughout the show.
Layla:
(20-30) - A beautiful yet deeply insecure woman who means well, though her attitude often gets her into trouble.
Amber’s best friend.
Marcus:
(30-50) - A flippant, eccentric man who frequents Dianamos Bar and has a penchant for psychedelics.
A deeply layered character.
Diana:
(45-60) The owner of Dianamos; the bar that Amber, Layla and Marcus frequent. Her establishment was built on her and her late husband's hard work.
She is a motherly figure, but not at all soft.
Jamie:
(20-30) - An attractive, slightly cocky man, who can be seen as manipulative. He does genuinely seem to care for the people around him.
Amber's partner.
Andrew:
(20-30) - A comedic yet tragic guy who grapples with not wanting to be his father, and needing to do be better for his new family.
Jamie’s best friend.
Cameron:
(25-35) - A typically calm, cool, and collected man who struggles with mental health issues due to trauma.
Another of Amber’s partners.
